Split PDF
What is a PDF Splitter?
A PDF splitter separates one PDF document into multiple PDF files. iToolsEra Split PDF lets you create a separate PDF for every page or divide a document using custom page ranges.
Upload a PDF, choose how to split it, and download the resulting files individually or together in a ZIP archive. No desktop software installation is required.
How to Split a PDF Online
- Upload your PDF file. The current tool supports files up to 20 MB and 50 pages.
- Choose Split every page to create one PDF per page, or choose Split by page ranges to group pages into separate files.
- If you choose custom ranges, enter the page numbers and ranges in the format supported by the tool.
- Click Split PDF and wait for processing to finish.
- Download the resulting PDF files individually or use the ZIP option to collect them together.
PDF Page Range Examples
Use a single page such as 7, a range such as 1-5, or multiple comma-separated groups such as 1-3,4-6,7. The example creates three output files: pages 1–3, pages 4–6, and page 7.
Each requested page number must exist in the uploaded PDF. Check the ranges before processing so the output contains the pages you intended.
PDF File Limits
The current iToolsEra Split PDF tool accepts one PDF file up to 20 MB and supports documents containing up to 50 pages. A file that exceeds either limit may need to be reduced or divided before you upload it.
Temporary File Processing
Split PDF uses server-side processing: the uploaded document is sent to the service so the requested PDF parts can be created. This is not browser-only processing.
The supplied implementation includes temporary-file cleanup with a two-hour threshold. Cleanup depends on the configured cleanup mechanism running; this should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every file is deleted at an exact time.
When Should You Split a PDF?
Splitting a PDF is useful when you need only part of a document or want to organize a long document into separate files.
- Online applications: separate the pages required for a submission.
- Certificates and records: save selected pages as individual PDFs.
- Invoices and reports: divide a multi-page document into smaller sections.
- Email attachments: create separate files containing only the pages you need.
- Study materials: separate chapters or selected pages for easier access.
- Document organization: keep relevant pages in separate files for sharing or archiving.
Splitting creates separate output files; it does not necessarily reduce the combined data size of all outputs or remove pages from the original file on your device.
Tips for Successful PDF Splitting
- Check the page count before uploading.
- Use individual-page splitting when you need one file per page.
- Use custom page ranges when you want specific groups of pages in separate files.
- Check page numbers carefully to avoid invalid ranges.
- Open the downloaded PDFs to confirm that they contain the pages you intended.
