What is an image cropper?

An image cropper removes unwanted areas from a photo or graphic so you can keep the part that matters. It is useful for profile pictures, social media images, website graphics, thumbnails, document photos and other images that need a specific composition.

iToolsEra provides a visual crop area so you can position and resize the selection before creating the final image.

How does the image cropper work?

Upload one or more JPG, PNG or WebP images and choose an aspect ratio when a fixed shape is required. Drag and resize the crop area until the desired part of the image is selected. The selected crop coordinates are sent to the server, where the crop is applied and a separate result file is created.

Cropping changes which part of the image is kept. It does not replace resizing when you need exact output dimensions.

Choose the right crop ratio

Use Free Crop when you want complete control over the selection. Common presets include 1:1 for square images, 16:9 for wide graphics and video-style thumbnails, 4:3 for traditional layouts, 4:5 for portrait social images, and 9:16 for vertical content.

You can still fine-tune the crop area for each image after choosing a preset.

Are my original images changed?

No. The original uploaded image is used only for processing. The crop result is generated as a separate temporary file. Temporary tool files are cleaned up according to the iToolsEra temporary-file cleanup process.
