What is an Image Background Remover?

An image background remover removes pixels that are detected as part of the surrounding background and makes them transparent. This is useful for product images, profile graphics, logos, presentations, websites and other designs where you need the main subject without its original background.

How Does the Background Remover Work?

The tool analyses the connected pixels around the image edges and detects background colors using a configurable tolerance. Detected background areas are made transparent while the remaining image content is preserved. A small edge-softness setting can be used to reduce harsh edges.

How to Get Better Results

  • Use images with a reasonably clear background.
  • Increase tolerance when similar background shades remain around the subject.
  • Reduce tolerance when parts of the subject are being removed.
  • Use a small amount of edge softness when the subject boundary looks too hard.
